People & Honey
Family affair
The timeless quality of the honey is due to the purity of the raw material due to the Cycladic biodiversity, but also to the family's commitment to utilizing traditional wisdom by combining it with modern know-how. This is how honey of unique quality and taste is produced, from bees that are bred exclusively on the slopes of Ios.
Who we are
The Vrontes Aegean Hives apiary belongs to the Stavrakis family and we have been raising beehives for four generations. We deal exclusively with the production and packaging of Niotiko honey, faithfully continuing our family tradition.
Production and export process of organic honey
The production of honey is a wonderful work performed mainly by bees and depends on the purity of their natural environment. The beekeeper's role is mediating and controlling, facilitating the bees' natural processes to achieve an excellent harvest in both quality and quantity. At the Vrontes Aegean Hives apiary, we remain faithful to traditional production methods, while investing in research and improving our production.
1. First Stage of Physical Kerithra
Placing a frame in the hive for the bees to start building the comb in a natural way.
2. Second Stage of Natural Kerithra
The bees begin to build the comb using natural wax, creating the basis for collecting the honey.
3. Completion of Construction Works
The bees complete the construction of the comb, preparing it for filling with honey.
4. Bee during Thyme Honey Collection
A bee collects thyme honey, adding the unique flavor and nutritional properties of thyme to the honey.
5. Completion of Work in the Hive before the Harvest
The comb is filled with honey and sealed, ready for harvesting.
6. Three Stages of Work Inside the Hive
The different stages of production inside the hive, including building, filling with honey and sealing.
7. Exfoliation Machine
It is used to remove the wax that seals the honey, allowing it to be extracted.
8. Honey Extraction Machine
The machine used to extract the honey from the combs without destroying the wax.
9. Honey extractor
The honey extractor uses centrifugal force to extract the honey from the combs.
10. Mode of Operation of the Centrifuge in the Honey Extractor
The centrifugal force allows efficient honey extraction without damaging the combs.
11. Tranquility Tank
The honey is placed in the stilling tank, where it is allowed to settle before it is ready for packaging and disposal.
12. Freezing-Preservation for the Biological Conservation of Honeycombs
The hives are kept in frozen conditions to protect them from pests and diseases, ensuring their biological integrity.
Quality and Commitment
With regular quality and quantity checks, we ensure that the final product is pure, extremely tasty and 100% organic. Continuous investments in the development and upgrading of our production ensure the high quality of our honey, maintaining our traditional commitment to a product that stands out.
